Engagement ring – commitment or tradition

A woman’s most priced possession; the engagement ring is perhaps the most talked about jewels as well. So why does one wear an engagement ring? Is it because it is a tradition to wear an engagement ring to signify betrothal or simply because it symbolizes a commitment?

Well, different people wear engagement ring for different reasons. I know some who wear it for fashion. Some people wear engagement rings for they feel they are honoring traditions. But more than any other reason I feel an engagement ring symbolizes love and a beautiful promise that makes this jewelry article so special. Come to see it, I love both the tradition and commitment associated to the engagement ring. By tradition I don’t really mean I want my engagement ring to be the classic diamond solitaire ring, I would prefer a blue sapphire engagement ring for I feel nothing symbolizes love better (but then again that’s a personal opinion), but tradition to me means getting back to good old values for once.

It’s a dream women are biologically designed to live with, so please don’t take the romance and fantasy off marriage and engagement rings.
